Fixing a Foundation Crack with Carbon Fiber

If this condition is not remediated, the foundation crack could potentially cave in and take down the structure that it’s supporting. Fortunately, there is a process that utilizes carbon fiber to provide foundation reinforcement to limit additional movement of the foundation wall.

Carbon Fiber Reinforcement

Carbon fiber is a material that consists of thin, strong crystalline filaments. It also has many different advantages, such as:

  • High stiffness
  • High tensile strength
  • Low weight
  • High chemical resistance
  • High temperature tolerance
  • Low thermal expansion

When bound together with plastic polymer resin by heat, a strong, lightweight composite material forms .

Carbon fiber foundation crack reinforcement is a system that utilizes carbon fiber material adhered to a cracked foundation wall at critical locations with the use of high strength epoxies.

Once it’s installed and allowed to cure, it will bond to the foundation materials, bridging the active foundation crack and limiting its movement. The lateral pressures against the foundation wall are mitigated so that the wall becomes stable and continues to support the house or building as intended.

In other words, a foundation crack can plague any type of property. However, with carbon fiber reinforcement, it will be as strong as ever!
